Private schools still open

By Our Correspondent

GUJRANWALA, June 9: Private schools are violating the directive of the Punjab government regarding summer vacation and continuing academic activities in the sweltering heat, it is learnt here.

Reports said the Punjab government had closed educational institutions for summer vacation from June 4 whereas private schools are holding summer camps to `justify’ fee collection for three months.

Some minor boys and girls have reportedly fainted due to the scorching heat.

Parents have demanded action against the administration of private schools for violating the government’s directions.

When contacted executive district officer (education) Raja Khadim Husain said all private schools had been asked to implement the directive and action would be taken against violators.

He said raids would be conducted from Monday (tomorrow) in this regard.
