SHIKARPUR: Jirga to seek settlement of tribal disputes

SHIKARPUR, June 9: A meeting of tribal chieftains and prominent persons was held at DCO office here on Saturday under the chairmanship of District Nazim Mohammad Arif Mahar for the settlement of ongoing tribal disputes in the district.
Provincial ministers Mir Manzoor Khan Panhwar and Mir Sohrab Sarki, Sardar Sher Mohammad Khan Bijarani, Sardar Mohammad Muqeem Khan Khoso, MNA Dr Mohammad Ibrahim Khan Jatoi, MPA Zulfiqar Ali Khan Kamario, Babal Khan Bhayo, Babal Khan Jakhrani, DPO Zulfiqar Ali Larik, Taluka Nazim Garhi Yasin and others attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed various ongoing tribal disputes between communities including, Marfani, Bakhrani, Brohi, Qambrani, Issani, Chandio, Tunio, Shar and Pahore and decided to hold jirgas for their peaceful settlement.
A jirga in this regard would be held this month, while the date of the jirga would be announced after a meeting of participants to be held on Monday at the residence of Mir Manzoor Khan Panhwar in Jacobabad.
The tribal elders unanimously announced ceasefire between all parties till the decision of the jirga.
The meeting also nominated Mir Manzoor Panhwar and Mir Yar Mohammad Jamali as the Ameens of the jirga.
Later, talking to journalists, Mir Manzoor Panhwar, said that if any of the parties involved in the tribal clashes put up hindrances or disagreed with the mediation efforts, they would be severely dealt with according to law as the government wanted to ensure peace and tranquillity and no one would be permitted to take law into his own hands.
