KHAIRPUR: Many faint due to heat, power failure

KHAIRPUR, June 9: Many people, including women and children fainted due to scorching heat and power failure which continued for over five hours throughout the district and surrounding areas on Saturday.Daily wage earners could not continue their work due to unbearable heat.

Prices of curd and ice also went up with the increase in temperature. All the bazars and trade centres wore a deserted look as people preferred to remain indoors.

Meanwhile, many of the date palm growers have expressed their happiness over increase in temperature. They said that the rise in temperature will greatly benefit their date palm orchards. They said if the rise in temperature continued in June, their date palm would reach final production stage before the monsoon rains.

INJURED IDENTIFIED: An alleged criminal, identified as Nadir Hussain Narejo, resident of Faiz Mohammad Bindo village, who was injured in the firing near Rahuja, Kingri taluka, late on Friday evening died on the way to Sukkur hospital. He was referred by the doctors at RHC Pir Jo Goth to Civil Hospital Sukkur.
