Kidnap plot foiled

By Our Correspondent

BAHAWALPUR, June 7: Police claimed to have foiled a plan to kidnap a professor of Quaid-i-Azam Medical College here on Wednesday night. DPO Arif Nawaz said at a press conference here on Thursday three kidnappers, led by Zulfiqar Bhatti alias Zulfi, a resident of Jalalpur, camped near the main gate of the medical college. They planned to kidnap for ransom a college professor.

But, the DPO claimed that a police team headed by a DSP, on a tip-off, arrested ringleader Zulfiqar and Ahmad alias Ali, a resident of Muhammadia Colony, while his accomplices Saifullah alias Saifi Jat and Zulfiqar alias Zulfa Oad of Chak 25/DNB escaped.

The DPO claimed Zulfiqar was wanted in 22 cases of dacoities, robberies and motorcycle snatching. A stolen motorcycle, a 222 rifle, a 30-bore pistol and cash were recovered from their possession.

BOY RECOVERED: The police recovered Nazir, 12, from an inn on Wednesday night. He was allegedly kidnapped about four months ago from a village near Dera Nawab Sahib.

The alleged kidnappers escaped when police raided the inn.
