CHAKWAL, June 6: Judicial Magistrate Nadeem Abbas and a bailiff appointed by Additional District and Sessions Judge Akram Awan on Wednesday recovered two Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) activists, who were detained by police last night in a crackdown on opposition parties’ workers.
The judge ordered the recovery of the JI activists after Farhan Babar advocate on behalf of Hafiz Abdur Rauf and Chaudhry Ahmed Khan pleaded before the court that the two men were arrested by the Chakwal police unlawfully and they were kept in illegal confinement.
The magistrate along with the bailiff raided the Chakwal police station and recovered both the office-bearers of the Jamaat-i-Islami.
The additional district and sessions judge also summoned the SHO City police station and ordered him to explain the detention of the two persons and submit his reply accordingly.

Two lawyers, Wajahat Ali Khan and Mushtaq Mirza also participated in the hunger strike camp of district bar Chakwal. When they arrive at the venue participants of the camp chanted anti-Musharraf slogans.
Legal fraternity also expressed complete solidarity with the journalist community and demanded withdrawal of Pemra ordinance 2007.
