KARACHI: PAC withdraws strike call

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, June 6: Pakhtun Action Committee (Loya Jirga) chief Shahi Syed has announced that the three-day strike plan, which had earlier been deferred till June 8, has been cancelled.

A wheel-jam strike was to be observed to protest against the May 12 killings in Karachi.

Speaking at a meeting at the Banaras Chowk on Wednesday night, Mr Syed said: “The government has met our demands, therefore, Pakhtun elders and notables have decided to withdraw the call for a thee-day strike.”

Mr Syed said the earlier call for a strike was postponed because some elements had hatched a conspiracy to incite Muhajir-Pakhtun clashes.
