KARACHI: Lecture on ethanol

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, June 6: With several sugar industries and factories, the country has a great potential to produce and use ethanol as an alternative environment-friendly energy source.

This was stated by the Acting Director of International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences, the University of Karachi, Prof (Dr) M. Iqbal Chaudhry while delivering a lecture on Wednesday.

Dr Chaudhry said that ethanol could be easily produced by fermenting bio-waste and molasses generated by sugar factories.

“Only a few industries have been producing ethanol so far,” he said, adding that production of ethanol on a large scale would not only help reduce pollution but also save national money.
