By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, June 5: The tropical cyclone Gonu on Tuesday moved away from the Sindh coast and headed towards the coast of Oman.

According to the meteorological office, the cyclone which developed over the north-west Arabian Sea was about 720 kilometres away from Karachi and 475 kilometres from Gwadar. It is expected to move further away towards the north-west.

The met office pointed out that sea conditions would become rough and warned fishermen in Balochistan, particularly in Gwadar and Jiwani, to return to bases immediately.

Some parts of Karachi and Sindh received gusty winds and drizzle on Tuesday while the met office has forecasted rain, thunder-showers and heavy rain associated with strong winds in coastal areas.
