KHAAR, June 4: A local mujahideen shura (council) has denied involvement in the recent blast in the Salarzai area, in which five people were killed. The shura offered full cooperation to the administration to unearth the elements involved in the attack. Briefing journalists about the shura meeting here on Monday, Malik Abdul Aziz, chief of the Mamond peace committee, said the shura condemned the incident.

The meeting was held in the Kas Karewand area in the Mamond tehsil which was attended by local leaders Maulana Inayatur Rehman, Maulana Gul Mohammad, Maulana Gul Zaman and other elders.

Mr Aziz said the shura expressed concern over the bloody incidents in the Bajaur Agency and said that elements involved in such acts were the enemies of Islam and humanity.

The local mujahideen stood by the peace agreement made with the tribal elders, and upheld the pledge to restore peace to the area, he added.
