Crackdown begins against sub-tribe


WANA, June 2: The political administration of South Waziristan Agency have launched massive crackdown against Jalalkhel sub-tribe of the Mehsood tribe for their involvement in lifting of official vehicles.

Some tribesmen of the said sub-tribe lifted an ambulance of Wana Hospital and a pick up of the Assistant Director Local government in the months of February and April this year.

Khaista Rehman, Assistant Political Officer (APO) of the Sirvikai sub-division of the agency has imposed a fine of Rs2.6 million on the sub-tribe and has stopped the salaries of all class four employees, imposed a ban on issuance of ID cards to members of the sub tribe besides stopping other perks and privileges.

Talking to newsmen at his office, the APO said that there was complete calm in Sirvikai sub division of the agency and the noose has been tightened around the criminal elements.

Meanwhile, elders of sub tribe Jalalkhel praised the action and offered their full cooperation for maintenance of peace.—APP
