LAHORE, June 2: The four-year-old roan gelding Zanjeer will be on course to establish his credentials as a sprinter by winning the feature event during the day/night Lahore Summer Meeting at the Racecourse on Sunday.

The Hyderabad Plate, a class four division one and two handicap event, to be gone over the sprinting distance of 1000 metres, will be the sixth and last race of the day. In all, only six runners, barring the last-minute withdrawals, are to face the starter.

Zanjeer, who is a confirmed middle distance runner, had registered a facile victory over 1200m on May 6, but was beaten by Nosheen on May 20. He is fighting fit to make amends on handicap and pick up the spoils.

The fillies, Nosheen and Noor will fight for place.

The fifth and supporting event, the Hyderabad Plate, class IV division three looks a contest between three runners. They are: Red Hot Fire, Great Murad and Unter. Great Murad, who is knocking at the victory door in his three previous outings should click and win the race.

Don't Follow, Richy Dancer and Apex are the pick of the dozen runners in the fourth race, a class five division one handicap event over 1000m. They should fight it out in the same order.The third race has the biggest field of runners, if there are no last-minute withdrawals. This is a class five division two event to be contested over 1000m. Of them four, namely, Ferrari, King Of Gujrat, Major Rana and Rana Choice are the form animals. Though the distance is a bit short for the filly, Ferrari, on classification stands out.

Since the field is bigger, a minor miscalculation on the part of rider, intentionally or unintentionally may cost the race. On his last outing, King Of Gujrat was heavily backed by connections but was unlucky to be beaten to second place.

Manan Prince (ex-Super Master), is a very unlucky to miss the winner's box, twice in his previous outings. With a little luck after the change of name, he should oblige his connections. Mubashara, Shah Pari and Tyson are the next best in the same order, provided good riders are engaged.

First Passion looks good in the first race. Next to follow him are First Dream, Royal Palace and Malang Aya.

A card of six events will be decided. The first race will be held at 5:00pm.
