Jack In The Box set to repeat winning act

By Anwar Zuberi

KARACHI, June 2: Five-year-old bay Jack In The Box possesses credentials to repeat his last winning feat when the Gymkhana race meeting takes place at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

He posted three-and-a-half lengths victory in the last run under rider Ghulam Shabbir II who was brought in place of apprentice rider A. Ahmed at the last moment.

Drawn in a field of 12 runners barring last minute withdrawals, Jack In The Box starts as our days’ best and in all probability storm home ahead of ahead of rivals. Owned by Kamil Malik he is trained by Allah Judrio.

He should be chased by Arab Hi Arab and Thanks Naeem for the places.

There will be a two-way tie between fancied three-year-old bay colts – Dream Rose and Cash Flow – for the supremacy in the feature event which is the last race of the day.

Both belonged to the stables of Rajars – Gul Mohammad and Haji Khuda Bux – and had excellent past record. They have two cups apiece under their belt which they claimed last year.

However, one has to see that which horse is on job by the connection. Stormy Kiss and Sweet Smile should vie for the places.

Five-year-old bay Jawan Bakht is poised to pick up spoils in top division of class VII. Only six horses will face the starter barring last minute withdrawals.

Syed Ismail Shah’s three-year-old chestnut Lava Man is set to make it two on trot by claiming the fifth race. He should be followed by colt Shiracco and filly NYX.

Similarly, Lava Man’s stable mate filly Bewitched is also in line to make in two-in-a-row. Shah Sawar and Royal Loyalty are to fight for places. Whenever tried, Desperado can bring an element of surprise.
