HYDERABAD: Rulers urged to resign over May 12 killings

HYDERABAD, June 2: The Sindh National Front (SNF) has stressed that the rulers have forfeited their right to govern after disastrous operation in Balochistan and May 12 Karachi carnage and urged them to resign.
A meeting of the party office-bearers on Friday chaired by Allah Warayo Soomro condemned May 12 carnage and observed that it had even put the Mongols to shame.
The meeting said that the basic problems of Sindh such as water and National Finance Commission award had been pushed to the back burner due to the crises engulfing the country.
The meeting resolved to convene a conference at Sindh level to evolve a strategy to solve the problems facing the province and decided to continue "Sindhi Jago, Sindh Bachayo" movement to create awareness among people about their rights.
The meeting urged Sindhis to unite on one platform for the survival of their homeland and challenge the ‘terrorists’ in the government. All the institutions including judiciary had been made subservient to the will of rulers and human rights were being openly violated, it observed.
The meeting blamed Pakistan direct participation in the American war on terror for instability within the country and cited many incidents of suicide blasts, attacks on the installations and target killings as proof.
Meanwhile, party leaders Amir Bux Bhuto, Gul Mohammad Jakhrani, Allah Warayo Soomro, Ayoub Shar and Paryal Bughio met with the district president of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal Abdul Waheed Qureshi on Saturday.
Amir Bux Bhutto and Mr Qureshi discussed the problems confronting Sindh and the situation after May 12 Karachi carnage.
The two leaders demanded that Sindh, NWFP and Balochistan should be granted full provincial autonomy and the income of each province should be spent on the welfare of its own people.
They agreed to join hands for the restoration of democracy in the country.
