KARACHI: KU seminar

KARACHI, June 2: The University of Karachi’s Department of Physics organised a seminar on the ‘Role of Information Technology in Physics’ at its Arts Auditorium. The pro-vice-chancellor of the university, Prof Dr Akhlaq Ahmed presided over the programme.

The head of the physics department, Dr M Khalid Anis, in his welcome address, briefed the audience about the contribution of physics in the field of IT and the development of quantum computer.

Prof Dr SM Aqil Burney said that physics had been the guiding force to most developments in IT.

Syed Mohammad Raza, project director of the IT department of the Sindh government also attended the seminar, representing the Sindh IT adviser, who was unable to attend the programme.

Mr Raza informed that the government was taking keen interest in the promotion of information technology.
