QUETTA, June 1: Hundreds of people affected by the Mirani dam project staged a demonstration in Turbat town on Friday against delay in payment of compensation. The protest was held in front of the offices of district nazim and the DCO.

The protesters raised slogans against the government and some of them pelted shops with stones, forcing shopkeepers to shut their business.

Police intervened and used teargas to disperse the protesters and arrested 28 people, but released in the evening.
