Irshad, Rauf should be tried: Wasim

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, June 1: Fast bowling icon Wasim Akram has said that Abdur Rauf and Mohammad Irshad are impressive upcoming pacers, adding both should be given chances to represent Pakistan.

Wasim, who is imparting training to players at a PCB camp at the Gaddafi Stadium, told reporters Rauf and Irshad had the speed and swing, adding both had also been performing well in the domestic season. However, Wasim said the real strength of both can be tested in international matches for which, he advised, they should be given opportunities.

About not selecting Shoaib Akhtar for the Afro-Asia Cup, Wasim reiterated that it was a matter between the PCB and Shoaib, adding that the Rawalpindi Express was bowling five, six overs in the camp and that he would suggest the speedster to play club matches to test his match-fitness.
