Zone-II face Zone-IV Whites in U-19 final

KARACHI, June 1: A brilliant unbeaten knock of 151 by Shahzaib Hasan steered Zone-IV Whites to a well-deserved seven-wicket win against Zone-I Whites in the U-19 Inter-zonal cricket tournament semi-final at the KCCA Stadium on Thursday.

Shahzaib smashed eight fours and as many sixes in his 151, an innings that made the 249-run target very easy for Zone-IV Whites who romped home with almost ten overs to spare while losing three wickets only. Ali Jawad (59) also batted well for the victors.

Earlier, Zone-I Whites, batting first, posted 248-9 off the allotted 50 overs with Annan Arif (64) and Asad Baig (54) shining with the willow. Shahzaib Khan captured five wickets for 29.

Meanwhile, in the other semi-final Zone-II Whites defeated Zone-VI Whites by 61 runs at the TMC Ground. Zone-II Whites’ Ahmed Iqbal (88) was the only player who registered a half-century in the low-scoring encounter.

The final of the tournament will be played on Saturday at the PCB Regional Academy ground.
