DIG (Operations) Muhammad Aslam Tareen constituted a raiding party which rushed to the place and shot dead Jango in an encounter. His accomplices, however, managed to escape.

The police claimed that they had recovered a cache of weapons and that the deceased was involved in 56 cases of murder, dacoity and other heinous crimes.
