Ruling PML MNA resigns

By Our Correspondent

DERA GHAZI KHAN, June 1: MNA Ameena Jaafar Leghari has resigned from her seat in the National Assembly and her resignation has been sent to the prime minister, it is learnt on Friday.

Ms Leghari was also a member of standing committee on tourism.

According to sources, Ms Leghari had tendered her resignation a couple of days back.

Sources said Ms Leghari was a member of Leghari group and her resignation has created a crisis in the group.

They said her spouse MNA Jaafar Leghari had differences with MNA Farooq Ahmed Khan Leghari and his sons senator Jamal Khan and federal minister Awais Ahmed Khan over some local issues.

A couple of weeks ago, Ms Leghari had demanded, at a news conference held at Jam Pur, cancellation of police recruitments in Rajanpur. She had alleged that the recruitments had been made on the recommendation of MNA Nasrulla Darishak.

She also did not come from Lahore to attend the public meeting addressed by President Gen Musharraf at D G Khan.

Talking to this correspondent, Ms Leghari confirmed her resignation had been sent to the prime minister.

The sources said Jaafar Leghari was not happy with her resignation and had been trying to convince his wife to reconsider her decision.
