Doctors, nurses get a raise

LAHORE, May 31: The Punjab Employees Social Security Institution has increased the pay and allowances of doctors and nurses in social security hospitals and dispensaries and brought them on a par with their counterparts in government hospitals.

According to a notification issued by the institution, the non-practicing allowance of grade 17 and 18 doctors has been increased by Rs4,000 and grade 19 and 20 by Rs6,000.

Emoluments of house officers have been enhanced from Rs8,000 to Rs12,000 and salaries of anesthetists in grade 18 and 19 have been raised by Rs15,000 and Rs20,000, respectively. Nurses have been promoted from grade 16 to grade 17. —Reporter
