SHEIKHUPURA, May 31: There was fuss in the monthly meeting of the tehsil council on Thursday when 19 opposition naib nazims tendered their resignation to the convener against step-motherly treatment against them by the TMA on Thursday.

It was the routine meeting of the council in which development packages were presented. The treasury members unanimously approved the agenda.

Meanwhile, opposition member Irshad Bhatti criticised the agenda and said funds were allocated to the treasury bench members while the opposition was ignored. On it 19 naib nazims from the opposition side stood up and tendered resignations in protest.

They are Amina Gadhi, Afzal Virk, Rana Afzal, Ali Akbar Gadhi, Arif Kamboh, Rashid Kamboh, Irshad Rehmani, Rana Mumtaz, Rana Razzak, Nadim Iqbal Bhatti, Rana Sultan Mahmood, Victoria Peter, Nudrat Hashmi, Naheed Salahuddin, Rukhsana Mughal, Khurshid Begum and Amina Firdous.

Opposition leader Shahdat Bhatti later told journalists that although they were associated with the ruling PML, tehsil nazim Bilal Virk did not treat them properly.

“We have informed the chief minister and party high ups of the situation that no funds were allocated to us.”
