Protest against power outages

MANSEHRA, May 31: The traders of the main bus stand and surrounding areas took out a procession on Thursday against the continuous power outage and threatened to block the Karakoram Highway if the electricity was not restored within 24 hours. There is no electricity in the area for the past six days.

The shopkeepers and transporters gathered outside the Lorry Adda and chanted slogans against the Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco) for what they called the criminal apathy of the Pesco officials.

They said that power supply was suspended due to some fault in the transmission line but the Pesco chief engineer and other staff concerned did not bother to repair it despite repeated complaints.—Correspondent
