KARACHI, May 31: Police are still clueless as to what drove Uzma Shad, wife of a senior Pakistan Air Force technician, to kill her children and apparently commit suicide. The woman was found hanging from a ceiling fan while her two children were throttled to death in their two-room house on the premises of the Masroor base on Wednesday when her husband was away at work.
“We have not been able to collect any evidence which could suggest that the couple had an altercation over a domestic matter,” said inquiry officer of the case Mohammad Iftikhar.
“As far as her medical history is concerned, we have not been able to confirm if she had a history of mental illness, as we have not been able to thoroughly question Tahir (the husband),” he added.
The officer said that he only had a brief chance to talk to the woman’s husband since he was in the custody of the Air Force police.
On Thursday morning Tahir took the bodies of his wife and children to his native town of Sargodha for burial. “We have recorded some statements of their neighbours, but they did not give any significant information,” the inquiry officer said, adding that investigation would be expedited following the return of Tahir from his native town.
