JSQM stages protest across Sindh: Enforced disappearance of leaders

Dawn Report

HYDERABAD, May 30: The Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) and the Jeay Sindh Students Federation (JSSF) staged demonstrations across the province on Wednesday in protest against enforced disappearances of the party’s central secretary general Dr Safdar Sarki and several other nationalist leaders and workers, and arrest of JSSF central president Kehar Ansari.

In Hyderabad, a large number of JSQM and JSSF workers staged a demonstration and a sit-in on the press club road bringing the traffic to a halt for an hour.

Sooriah Sindhi, Gada Hussain Kango and Habib Bhutto said that there was no information on the whereabouts of Safdar Sarki since he had been picked up by agencies 17 months ago.

Rule of law had become a misnomer in Pakistan and the affairs of state were being managed by the army and agencies which had no respect for fundamental human rights, they said.

KHAIRPUR: A large number of activists and supporters of JSQM staged a procession and burnt tyres on the National Highway. They demanded release of the arrested political workers.

NAWABSHAH: Activists of JSQM staged a demonstration and a rally demanding immediate release of nationalist workers and warning to continue protest if their demand was not fulfilled.

The rally started from Old Naka and terminated at the local press club. JSQM District Secretary Sarwar Arejo, Sajid Dahiri, Dr Sham and Amin Chandio said that Dr Safdar Sarki, Kehar Ansari and hundreds of other nationalist workers were in the custody of agencies.

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Activists of JSQM staged rallies and demonstrations in Naushahro Feroze, Padidan, Moro, Tharushah and Mithiani. They blamed agencies for the disappearance of party leader Dr Safdar Sarki.

LARKANA: Led by Athar Soomro, Serai Slutan Metlo and Siraj Lashari a large number of JSQM activists brought out a procession on Wednesday, which marched on the main roads of the city before staging a sit-in on a railway track near Ghanti Phatak. They kept sitting on the tracks for an hour with the intention of forcing the train to stop but the train got late and they had to leave.
