KARACHI: Rain emergency declared in Site, Baldia towns
KARACHI, May 30: Site Town Nazim, Izharuddin Ahmed Khan, cancelled the leaves of relevant staff and directed officials to set up rain emergency centres across the town, besides cleaning drains in the area.
The town nazim also directed TMO Imran Aslam to immediately chalk out a comprehensive plan and form an emergency squad to cope with the expected rain emergency situation. He warned no negligence would be tolerated in this regard.
Baldia Town Nazim, Kamran Akhtar, declaring a rain emergency in the town, called an emergency meeting of relevant officials in this regard in which he directed the officials to take effective steps to cope with expected situation.
The meeting decided to re-activate complaint cells and emergency centres, besides ensuring the presence of staff round the clock.
The meeting was informed that the numbers for the central complaint centres are: 2817191 and 2817274.
Meanwhile, Shah Faisal Town Nazim, Mohammad Imran, on Wednesday paid a surprise visit to UC-1, 2 and 3 of the town to check the ongoing cleaning work of storm-water drains initiated due to the expected rains in the city.
During his visit he directed the relevant authorities to complete the cleaning work before the start of the monsoon rains. He also directed the nazims, naib nazims and councillors to maintain cleanliness in their respected areas.
UC-3 Nazim Mohammad Ainul Haq, Prem Chand and other town officers were also present on the occasion.
LANDHI: Landhi Town Administration has contacted various industrialists to seek their cooperation for the development of green belts on open spaces around their factories.
Nazim, Landhi Town, Syed Asif Hasnain, said that he has received a positive response and various industrialists will adopt these spaces under sponsorship schemes. He said this while inspecting development works at various parks in the town.
He said a tree plantation campaign is also being started soon, which would be carried out phase-wise in all the union councils.
On the occasion DTO Parks, Kashif Siddiqi, informed that at present Rs6.8 million worth of development works are in progress in nine different parks, while Rs700,000 is being spent on further improvement of the town nursery.
The town nazim directed that swings for children be installed in Raza Park and a green belt be developed along the wall of Al-Fateh ground.—APP / PPI
