KARACHI, May 29: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday announced to hold conditioning camps at three different places to improve the fitness level of national players.

According to the schedule, the first camp will be held in Abbottabad from June 10-25. Then after a break of two weeks, back-to-back camps will be organized in Quetta (July 10-24) and Karachi (July 25-Aug 15).

Talat Ali, the Pakistan team’s manager, will oversee the camps. Haroon Rasheed is expected to help out as the batting coach with NCA chief coach Aaqib Javed taking responsibility of the bowling coach.

Mohtashim Rasheed, Haroon’s youngest brother, is to be the fielding coach.

The camps are being held on the directive of Dr Nasim Ashraf, the PCB Chairman, who has expressed his dismay at the poor fitness levels of the Pakistan players in recent times.

“This is one area where there will be no compromise at any level. Because our main objective is to ensure the players remain fit throughout the international season. We are working on improving the fitness levels at least twofold by next year,” Dr Nasim said.
