KARACHI, May 29: Pakistan Under-19’s former opener Asad Ali smashed a century to guide Zone-II Whites to the Inter-zonal Under-19 Cricket Championship semi-final as they overwhelmed Zone-III Whites by 117 runs at the TMC Ground on Monday.
Asad hit 15 boundaries in his sparkling 109 and Ahmed Iqbal got 76 with six fours and a six as Zone-II Whites piled up 275-6 in 50 overs while batting first.
Zone-III Whites, in response, were bundled out for 158 in the 47th over. Pacer Zohaib Shera picked 4-35 while Athar Hussain got 3-39.
In another quarter-final at the Landhi Gymkhana Ground, Zone-IV Whites defeated Zone-V Whites by seven wickets. For the winners, Shahzaib Hasan blasted three sixes and eight fours in his 74 while his partner Ali Jawad hit an unbeaten 51 with five boundaries and a six.
