KARACHI: Mother of two shot dead in Orangi

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, May 29: A mother of two kids was shot dead by her husband over some domestic dispute in Orangi Town on Tuesday.

Hailing from Bajaur Agency, Momin Khan shot his wife Muhammadi Bibi, 30, in the temple causing her instant death and fled. Police shifted the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a postmortem. Following the legal formalities, the body was sent to the Edhi morgue.

Police said that the family of the accused tried to collect the body from the Edhi morgue but they were not allowed.

ACCIDENTS: Two persons died in road accidents on Tuesday.

A speeding minibus of F-16 route knocked down Saeeda Bibi and her son in front of PAF Museum on Sharea Faisal. Police said Saeeda Bibi died and her son was injured.

Police arrested the minibus driver.

In Sohrab Goth, a minibus of W-18 route hit a pedestrian, Ibrahim, 35. He was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital from where he was referred to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. However, he succumbed to his wounds on way to the hospital.

BODY FOUND: Police found a torso in an open drain in the limits of Zaman Town police station.

A day earlier, hands, feet and head of a middle-aged man were recovered from Sector-25 of the Korangi Industrial Area. Police registered the case and started investigating the matter suspecting a link between the two recoveries.

RAID: Police arrested a close accomplice of a notorious outlaw, Aziz Lasi, in a raid at his house in Chanesar Goth on Tuesday morning and recovered arms and ammunition.

The Jamshed Town Police Officer said that the police arrested Mohammad Afzal Khaskheli, a close associate of Aziz Lasi, and recovered 175 rounds of SMG, 90 rounds of 222-rifle, 30 rounds of TT pistol and two TT pistols from the house during the raid.

“We have also recovered a young man, Arif Mal, who was kidnapped by eight to 10 suspects a few hours before the raid. The victim was taken hostage for ransom,” SP Asif Ajaz said.

The gang is notorious for drug peddling, kidnapping for ransom and running gambling dens.

“As we proceeded to conduct the raid, at Lasi house, the local police were reluctant to take part saying that it has never been done in the past,” the TPO said.

Area people say clashes between the two notorious groups of Aziz Lasi and Shaukat had scared away many residents in the neighborhood who had shifted to other areas.
