Blast in Thailand kills four

HAT YAI (Thailand): An explosion at a busy market in southern Thailand on Monday killed four people and wounded 23, officials said, a day after blasts hit a popular tourist town in the restive region.

Sondhi Techanant, governor of Songkhla province where the bomb hit, said three people including two children were killed at the scene, while another person died later in hospital.

“The bomb was fixed to a motorcycle. We are checking at the scene as there is likely another bomb still hidden somewhere near,” Sondhi told Thai television station Channel 3.

Army spokesman Colonel Acar Tiproch said that 23 people were also wounded in the explosion at an evening market in Saba Yoi town, with five people still in a critical condition.—AFP
