Solox conquers bridge event


KARACHI, May 28: The Solox by scoring 96 victory points (VPs) won the KBA Weekend bridge tournament at the Aslam Memorial Bridge Hall on Sunday. Solox, comprising Gulzar Bilal, Jamal Nizami, Imran Jaka, Ghulam Mohammad and Anwer Kemal defeated Abedies 19-11, Candyland 16-14, Raees 25-2 and Farhat 21-9.

They played 15-15 draw against CNG 2000.

Four Biddings having Lutfullah Siddiqui, Naseer Ahmed, Asghar Abbas and Syed Ameer Hasan in their fold scored 88 VPs to take second place with four wins and one loss.

They beat Alliance 25-5, Mahmood-IV 18-12, Candyland 16-14, Shahab 19-11, and lost to CNG 10-20.

Mahmood-IV finished third with the same score of 88 VPs as they had lost to Four Bid-

ders 12-18. Mahmood-IV had services of Iqbal Hyder, Mirza Ibrahim Baig, Dr A. Hasan and Mahmood Naqvi. They outplayed Mixed-IV 22-8, Puris 20-10 and Abedies 22-8.

In the 30-pair competition played on Mitchell Movement, Ghulam Mohammad-Anwer Kemal topped from the East-West direction with a score of 60.88 per cent followed by Qasim Melon-Zahoor Melon (58.08 per cent) and Irfan Saadat Khan-S.A. Hameed (57.74 per cent).

From the North-South direction, Qamar Puri-Shahab Saeed finished first with 58.69 per cent score.

Ziaullah Baig-Hamid Mohiuddin with 57.81 per cent score finished second whereas Ghaffar Qureshi-Ameer Hasan occupied third place with score of 57.50 per cent.—APP
