Wang Liqin completes Chinese domination

ZAGREB, May 28: Wang Liqin won the men's singles title here on Sunday to complete China's total dominance at the World Table Tennis Championships. The second seed toppled compatriot Ma Lin by four sets to three – 4-11, 8-11, 11-5, 4-11, 11-9, 11-8, 11-6 to leave China heading home with all five gold medals on offer ahead of next year's Beijing Olympics.

The final was a repeat of the 2005 edition in Shanghai and the result was the same with Wang rallying after going two sets down against the top seed.

The women's doubles proved a lopsided affair with Wang Nan and Zhang Yining, the top two seeds, defeating Guo Yue and Li Xiaoxia by four sets to love.

Wang Liqin and Guo Yue teamed up to take the mixed doubles title on Friday with Ma Lin and Chen Qi winning the men’s doubles.

Guo Yue didn't come away empty handed though as she captured the women's singles.
