SWABI, May 28: Jamaat-i-Islami NWFP chief Sirajul Haq has said that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) is being used and strengthened by agencies to achieve their objectives.
Addressing a public meeting in Yar Hussian area on Monday, Mr Siraj said that the May 12 killings in Karachi had exposed the MQM’s intentions for future and how they wanted to treat other communities in the country.
He said that the resignation of Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali from the king’s party indicated that the ruling clique was facing disintegration.
Former NWFP senior minister said the regime had already been shaken by the lawyers’ movement against it.
“Despite continuous protest against the dictatorial role of President Musharraf, the Americans still support him because Washington has no interest in strengthening democracy in Pakistan,” he said.
“We want restoration of real democracy in the country,” he said.
Mr Siraj claimed that except the NWFP, landlords, waderas and Chaudhris were ruling the country.
He alleged that the ruling elite had exploited vital resources of the country and kept the poverty-stricken people under their control.
In a separate statement issued here on Monday, provincial vice-president of the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf, Asad Qaisar, said that Imran Khan was not alone in the fight against the MQM as every body knew what he really wanted to do for his beloved country.He said: “Our chief has joined politics for the provision of justice and those who want to harm our country and the nation will never be forgiven.”
