LAHORE, May 27: Favourite bay colt Kiss Of Luck crowned a big success in the feature event ran over 1200 metres during the day/night Lahore Summer Meeting at the Racecourse on Sunday.
Striking to lead right from the start Kiss Of Luck hit the finishing line first by a distance to rise to stardom. His six rivals proved no match to him and came staggering far behind in the final stretch as if they were coming from donkey yards.
Charismatic finished second, by a big margin of distance.Noor and Dil Vil completed the frame. The winner piloted by Atif Javed clocked one min 14 2/5 secs over the dust track.
A race earlier fancied bay colt Royal Luck strode to an easy victory in the supporting and fifth event gone over 1200m.
Ridden by jockey, Shahid Rehman the 30 to 100 favourite colt beat Royal Fish by a big margin of nine lengths. Great Murad and Royal Gambler completed the frame among eight runners. This was the fifth race in racing order.
The bay horse Puma The Great and chestnut colt Munsaf battled stride to stride to earn a dead-heat success in a fantastic finish in the third race.
Three-to-one chance Puma The Great led the field soon after entering in to the straight but Munsaf came from far behind and raced neck to neck from outside, passing the winning post locked together. So close was the finish that even the magic eye of the camera failed to separate both. The race was declared a dead heat between the two.
The odds-on favourite colt Willhewish finished third, over five lengths further away, which dented his reputation by a lack luster performance.
Earlier, a long shot chestnut filly won the opener defeating short odds favourite colt Super Master by two lengths. Shakeel Mahmood rode the winner while jockey Shahid Rehman partnered Super Star.
The King Of Gujrat, considered on track work a strong contender put up a low performance when beaten by Sharp Burg by over five lengths. The 40 to 100 favourite King Of Gujrat took a flying start but slithered pathetically in the final 100 metres when challenged by Sharp Burg in a quick move. Remember You finished third.
The long striding bay filly Great Memories scored her career's first victory in the fourth race. The filly led all the way home to give Shahid Rehman an easy sailing. Running in the red-blue silks of Khawaja M. Arif she beat Richy Dancer by three lengths.
Only three favourites obliged the punters in a card of six events. The favourites were: Great Memories, Royal Luck and Kiss Of Luck in the 4th, 5th and 6th races.
