DADU, May 27: The Vice Chancellor of Sindh University, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, has said that a campus of the Sindh University will be to set up in Dadu town and appealed to Sindh government to provide land for the campus.

Speaking at a conference on “Past and Future of Dadu” here on Sunday, held under the aegis of Sindhi Adabi Sangat, he said that it was his old desire to establish campuses of Sindh University at Badin, Mirpurkhas and Dadu, but no land was provided by the government for the purpose where campuses could not be established. In Badin, however, a campus was set up.

He said the District Council of Dadu should pass a resolution for establishing the university campus in Dadu and also expedite the process. Paper work for the university campus in Dadu has almost been completed, he added. He said educated people, with required qualifications, can do their PhDs from Sindh University in any subject.

Referring to standard of education in Sindh, he said that condition of primary education was the worst in Sindh as compared to Balochistan.

He said that first of all we have to improve our primary education which would ultimately improve our future. Mr Siddiqui announced to establish the chair of Ustad Bukhari in Sindh University.

Former chairman of Sindhi Language Authority, G. A. Allana, said the conference was extensive in which all topics were touched with a large number of scholars, historians and intellectuals participating in it.

He said that renowned historian late Taj Serai had worked on different topics of history of Dadu and pictures and material on Dadu was available at Sindhology.

He said that evidence of early human life was found in Dadu and there were many historical places including Caves of Kai, Naing Sharif, Amri remains, graves of Kalhora, Talpurs and Rani Kot.

He said that some historical places in Rohri and Makli hills also needed more research.
