ISLAMABAD, May 25: The Indus River System Authority, in response to a May 24 report about delay in the construction of a bridge over Chenab between Multan and Muzaffargarh, said the project authorities had never contacted IRSA to convey any problem in the execution of the project.

In a statement, the said the IRSA forecast the river inflows at the start of the each cropping season and subsequently got approval from the advisory committee which had representation from all the provinces.

Moreover, “Chenab river is un-regulated and the flow of water cannot of controlled.”

It rejected project authorities claim regarding compensation of Rs 250 million in terms of wastage of material and damage to the machinery.

“The issue does not come under the purview of IRSA.”
