KARACHI: MVT recovery drive

By A Reporter

KARACHI, May 25: Sindh Excise and Taxation Minister Shabbir Ahmed Qaimkhani on Friday said that the campaign to check vehicles’ documents would be restarted from May 28.

He said that teams of the excise department would check the documents at 13 different spots in the city and those found defaulters would be heavily fined.

Mr Qaimkhani said that vehicles would also be impounded in case of a major default and released only on payment of the taxes.

The campaign was launched earlier but was stopped after May 12 incidents, he added.

The minister urged the vehicles’ owners to clear their dues and show their motor vehicle tax (MVT) receipts to the concerned staff on demand.
