NEW DELHI, May 25: Indian police have arrested a man in connection with a bomb attack in a mosque last week which killed nine people, said a report on Friday. The man, who was detained in Maharashtra state on Thursday, is suspected of having supplied explosives for several bombs planted in the 17th-century Mecca Mosque in Hyderabad Deccan, said the Press Trust of India.
One of the bombs exploded during Friday prayers, while two others were defused.
The attack also sparked violent protests, and a further five people were killed in the subsequent police action.
No group has claimed responsibility for the blast which came nine months after a bombing of a mosque in Malegaon, in Maharashtra state, which killed 31 people and wounded 297.—AFP
