NEW DELHI, May 24: Indian police on Thursday defused a powerful bomb they found on the road that the Kashmir peace bus — Karvan-i-Aman — was about to take, United News of India said.
The bus was carrying 22 passengers from Srinagar to Muzaffarabad when the "plan by suspected militants to uncovered" and the improvised explosive device disabled.
UNI said the foiled attempt was made two days after Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmad Khan, in an interview with a leading English daily of the state Greater Kashmir, said two more crossing points would be opened on the Line of Control for the families divided since 1947.
The peace bus has been targeted previously too but this has not affected its schedule.
