KARACHI, May 24: Slow left-arm spinner Athar Hussain produced the best bowling figures at the KCCA Inter Zonal Under-19 Cricket Championship as he claimed seven wickets to lead Zone II Whites to an emphatic ten-wicket win over Zone VII Whites on Wednesday.
Athar finished with seven wickets for 33 runs as Zone VII Whites, after being put in to bat first, were restricted to 129-8 in their 50 overs. Zone II Whites, in reply, raced to victory without losing any wicket in 17.4 overs. Ali Asad banged 70 with 12 boundaries and Ammar Hussain finished 51 not out.
Meanwhile, Ainan Arif cracked a brilliant century in Zone I Whites’ 69-run victory against Zone III Whites at the KCCA Stadium.
Ainan hit eight fours and a six in his 114 and Sajid Khan got 77 with four boundaries as Zone I Whites mustered 298-7 in their 50 overs. Zone III Whites, in response, could manage 229-6 in 50 overs. Humayun Alamgir struck 62 five fours and a six.
At the Landhi Gymkhana Zone V Blues registered a 14-run triumph over Zone IV Blues.
Zone V Blues, batting first, were dismissed for 181 in 48 overs. Zone IV Blues, in reply, were bowled out for 167 in 49.1 overs in spite of a defiant 82 by Arsalan Khan. Wajihuddin grabbed 4-18 for the winners.
