LAHORE, May 24: The project management unit of Wasa has sought approval of the second phase of desilting of drains and sewerage lines project in Lahore after completion of the first phase with Rs78.9 million financial assistance of Japan.

A PMU spokesman said here on Thursday that the sewerage system and drains in Allama Iqbal Town, Township, Green Town, Faisal Town, Bhakewal, Muslim Town, Model Town Extension, Johar Town and adjoining areas would be desilted during the second phase of the project spanning over two years.

He said 150,000 tons of waste had so far been removed from the open drains and sewerage lines during the first phase, which started in January, 2006.— Reporter
