LAHORE, May 23: Fancied bay filly Janu proved her worth when she hacked the field to win the feature event, ran over 900 metres, of the Lahore Gymkhana Midweek Day/Night races at the Racecourse on Wednesday.

The filly is owned by former hockey player Munir Dar and rode by Anjum.

She won the race by over four lengths defeating Ferrari.

Safe And Sound and Dam Dama Dam completed the frame among the big field of 17 runners.

Ten-year-old grey horse Blu's Wendy provided owner-trainer Wali Khan relief with grand success in the third race.

Under a superb ride of Shah Nawaz, Blu's Wendy came from behind to beat Royal Palace and favourite Tosca.

Odds on favourite Princess Aafaq made amends when she won the fourth and supporting event of the day by defeating Crystal Heart by two-and-a-half lengths. Shah Pari occupied third place.

Earlier, bay gelding Murad The Great conquered the second race by a distance from Cheeko Khan.

Trained by Mohammad Afzal, Murad The Great was the best performer of the small card of five events which were decided on the rain-soaked Racecourse.
