LONDON, May 23: Pakistan’s ace leg-spinner Danish Kaneria said he wants to play the one-off limited-overs international against arch-rivals India in Scotland later this summer. “I am making myself available for the (one-day) match and looking forward to play against India as representing Pakistan has always been my first priority,” Kaneria said in an interview with a UK-based website on Wednesday.
Pakistan and India are to play a special ODI in Glasgow, Scotland on July 3 at the invitation of the Prince of Wales. It is hoped the game will raise up to 2.5 million pounds for charities in the UK and those in the Sub-continent.
Kanreia, who is representing Essex at the ongoing county season in England, said he was in contact with the selectors to show his availability for the July fixture.
The champion leg-spinner said he was enjoying the county season, taking wickets for his outfit which he believed has given him great respite after the World Cup disappointment.
He also congratulated his team-mates for registering a 2-1 win against Sri Lanka in the Abu Dhabi ODI series.
“I may be a fair distance from my country here at Essex but I was still delighted to see the boys beat Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi and I want to congratulate the team for doing so well,” Kaneria expressed.
Kaneria also applauded new skipper Shoaib Malik for leading the team to victory in his first series as captain, saying the selectors seem to have got things right with his selection.—Agencies
