Code of conduct for police

By Out Staff Correspondent

Quetta, May 23: Balochistan Police Chief Tariq Masood Khosa has said that a code of conduct is being prepared to make police answerable to the masses and for this purpose recommendations from judiciary are being considered.

Addressing a seminar on Wednesday, Mr Khosa said the proposed code would be implemented through National Public Safety Commission in all law enforcement agencies to strengthen the accountability process. The seminar was organized by an NGO.

The police department signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for welfare of police personnel and their family members.

The police chief said that all the ‘B’ areas districts would be converted into ‘A’ areas by the end of this year. He said that in the first phase of a new system five districts close to Pakistan-Iran border had been turned into police areas and said that the districts bordering Afghanistan would also be converted into police areas.
