NEW DELHI, May 23: A massive blaze tore through an illegal New Delhi shanty town on Wednesday, prompting fire trucks to rush to the site to battle the flames, officials said. The fire was believed to have started in the kitchen of a hut and rapidly spread across the riverside cluster of more than 1,500 dwellings, a fire department spokesman said.
The area is home to many immigrants from Bangladesh.
