KARACHI, May 22: Sindh Education Department has warned management of private schools to refrain from curtailing the summer vacation by 15 days with commencement of the academic session from August 1.
The education department has asked educational institutions, including those privately-run, that summer vacations will be observed from June 1 to August 15, which is opposed by the administration of private schools.
According to a spokesman for the All Private Schools Management Association, private schools had decided to resume the session from August 1 ‘in greater interest of students’ as already there had been large number of casual holidays during this year.
APSMA Chairman Khalid Shah along with other office-bearers at a recent press conference said though the Sindh government had announced to open its schools from August 16, private schools would resume classes from August 1 in the best interest of the students.
Mr Shah said they were ready to pay penalty in case of any violation of government’s rules saying that it would in the interest of students to commence the session from August 1.
A well-placed source in the education department said the department had issued directives to all public and private schools to commence academic session from August 16. He said no compromise would be made on this issue. He said the decision was taken on the basis of prescribed rules and nobody would be allowed to violate them.
He expressed hope that the matter would be resolved amicably and APSMA would be approached in this regard.—PPI
