By Our Sports Reporter

KARACHI, May 21: All-rounder Mohammad Ismail recorded a fine performance for the hosts as his team defeated Bank Islami Pakistan by 35 runs in the inaugural match of the first Meezan Inter-bank colour-kit cricket tournament at the Asghar Ali Shah Stadium on Sunday.

After being sent in to bat first, Meezan Bank totalled 185 before being dismissed on the final ball of the 25 allotted overs with Mohammad Ismail (21), Shakeel Zia (64), Arshad Majeed (31) and Umar Aminuddin (29) being the main scorers. Hasham Siddiqui took 3-45 while Saud Khan (2-25) and Tauqir Nasir (2-30) also bowled well.

Bank Islami, in response, were bowled out for 150 off 22.3 overs as Rashid Hussain (39) and Saud Khan (34) tried hard but could not steer their side to victory.

Meezan Bank’s Ismail, later declared Man of the Match, claimed four wickets for 21 as his partners Aurangzeb Anwar (3-34) and Kashif Aziz (2-44) also had their shares.
