3 tribesmen set free

By Our Correspondent

MIRAMSHAH, May 21: Military authorities on Monday set free three tribesmen who were arrested under the territorial responsibility clause of the Frontier Crimes Regulation earlier this month, officials said.

The released persons belonged to the Mosaki village of the North Waziristan Agency where a military convoy had come under attack on May 4, which left seven soldiers wounded.

In this regard, a jirga was held in the agency headquarters which was attended by GoC Major-Gen Azhar Ali Shah, PA Peerzada Khan Wazir and members of the Peace Committee.

The Peace Committee along with elders of the Mosaki village requested the authorities to release the three tribesmen, identified as Islamuddin, Asim Khan and Kamran. The elders agreed to pay a fine of Rs 1 million for their release.

The administration had imposed a fine of Rs 1 million on the villagers for attacking security forces.
