KARACHI: No hope for peace under present govt: Raza
KARACHI, May 21: Holding the present government and its allies responsible for the mayhem in Karachi on May 12, Senator Mian Raza Rabbani said peace could not be restored in the metropolis under the present regime.
He was expressing his views at the launching ceremony of book titled ‘Hafiz Muhammad Taqi: Life & Services,’ compiled by Moin Noori. The launching ceremony was organised by Sehar Foundation.
Paying homage to Hafiz Taqi, who embraced martyrdom in Nishtar Park blast last year, he said services of Hafiz Taqi would always be remembered. He said that Hafiz Taqi courageously faced terrorist elements in the metropolis and did not compromise on his principles.
Mr Rabbani asked the government to quit forthwith, constitute a national interim government and give powers to public representatives by holding free and fair elections.
Former governor of Sindh Moinuddin Haider called Hafiz Taqi as the ‘voice of Sindh’. The carnage that occurred on the day of Eid Milladul Nabi (Peace be upon him) last year was still a big question mark, he said.
He said due to wrong policies of the present rulers baton and bullet had taken place of talks and dialogue.
Capt (retd) Haleem Siddiqui, former federal minister, said, “We came to Pakistan to become Pakistani and not Muhajir. We should all stand together to save Karachi from bloodshed,” he added.
Haji Hanif Tayyab, former federal minister, announced that Al-Mustafa Welfare Society would give Hafiz Taqi Shaheed Gold Medal to position holders of Karachi University in M.A. (Political Science). In view of his services, the former minister suggested to name the Teen Hatti Bridge after Hafiz Taqi.
Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal leader Muzaffar Ahmed Hashmi said Hafiz Muhammad Taqi worked actively outside and inside parliament to expose fake investment companies.
Sir Syed University for Engineering and Technology Chancellor Z.A. Nizami said his university would arrange a programme on the services of Hafiz Taqi.
