MIRPURKHAS, May 19: Eleven under-trial prisoners injured themselves in protest against being shifted to the Hyderabad central jail from Mirpurkhas district prison on Saturday.

The prisoners, including Saeed Akhtar, Suleman, Naeem, Rahim, Jan Mohammad Makrani, Jan Mohammad Mari, Bisharat, Akbar Champa, Rozdeen Pathan, Manthar and Asghar, refused to go to Hyderabad and raised slogans against the prison administration.

When the police forced them into the van, they hit their heads against the sides of the van and sustained head injuries. They, however, were taken to the Hyderabad central prison.

Earlier, the prisoners had complained with the DIG Prisons Hyderabad, Mohammad Nawaz Sheikh, about the callous behaviour of the prison administration.—Correspondent
