CHITRAL, May 19: District Nazim Maghfirat Shah has alleged that Federal Minister for Political Affairs Amir Muqam is driving a wedge between President Pervez Musharraf and the district government of Chitral.

Addressing a session of the district council here on Saturday, he said the minister was trying to create a law and order situation in Chitral by pitting different political parties against each other.

He claimed that the district government was ignored in the appropriation of Rs100m that had been allocated by the president on his visit to Chitral last year.

He said the district government would resist the misappropriation of the presidential funds and warned that the public passion was running high on the issue which could spill out of control.

He urged President Musharraf to take a notice of the situation.

He observed that on one hand more than 25 valleys had been closed to traffic for lack of funds and on the other hand unnecessary protection walls were being constructed at five royal forts that belonged to a former ruling family.
